About This Blog/Bio

I am a writer of Contemporary Romance.  My manuscript Baby on Board--Help! won Romance Writers of America's 2013 Golden Heart Award for Contemporary Series Romance. It also placed in the top 28 of the 2012 Harlequin's global So You Think You Can Write Competition.

I am represented by Jill Marsal of the Marsal Lyon Literary Agency.

Please join me as I talk about research, craft, community, and the journey to publication. I tend to talk a lot about craft because that's what I'm learning!

For about five years before writing contemporary romance, I wrote Regency and early Victorian historical romance and I still love to read historical romance. My manuscript Spies, Lies, and Debutantes (also called The Spy Who Loved Me) won the historical unpublished category of the Daphne Contest in 2012 and was a 2013 Golden Heart Finalist in the Romantic Suspense category.

I hold a masters degree in Literature and read widely across many genres. I adore Jane Austen and John Keats, Lisa Kleypas, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Lori Wilde, Meg Cabot, Ann Brasheres, Elin Hilderbrand, and JoJo Moyes. I always have multiple books going at once and almost never go anywhere without one. My favorite books are those that contain great insights about life and love and the experience of being human. And have happy endings. And make me laugh. Sad book, unhappy ending--um, no thanks. Well, maybe for good discussion purposes. Maybe.

I am a proud and active member of my local RWA chapter, the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Romance Writers of America.

I live in Northeast Ohio with my husband and three kids, my office mates Maggie, a yellow lab, and Posey, a rescue cat with more attitude then my teenagers.

Oh, and if you're interested, the flowers part of my header photo was taken on a trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada. We biked the fifteen miles from there to the Falls and stopped along the way to (try not to die) and enjoy the gorgeous gardens.
